This is my very best friend, Lexi Whyte.
Lexi is a stunning 15-year-old ballerina who loves nothing more than to spread her wings on stage. One of the most gentle souls I know. She always puts everyone before her. Her outlook and smile are a huge inspiration to me. She’s one of the best singers I know. I love her to death.
But..
Lexi has a rare bone tumor in her skull (5cmx7cm). It caused an even more rare nerve dystrophy in her head called CRPS or RSD. Usually found in the arm or leg, CRPS causes excruciatingly debilitating pain that is completely unaffected by narcotics. With INTENSE physiotherapy it can be treated in the arm or leg, but there is NO treatment for CRPS in the cranial nerves.
Lexi also has multi system issues. She is believed to have an undiagnosed mutation of the cyropyrin gene that has left her allergic to her internal organs. She becomes covered in painful rashes and struggles to take breaths. Her body spasms, her jaw locks. Her skin splits and bleeds. Every movement or trauma causes MORE pain. Because of the cyropyrin issue drugs like morphine and 90% of the drugs that would help her cannot be given because they make it worse. Her lips swell so much they split open. Her hearing is so sensitive breathing around her can make her cry. She can no longer eat and is tube fed.. Even with the tube feed she continues to lose weight and at 102lbs she is now on intravenous feeds running the risk of liver damage. No one around where we live knows how to diagnose or treat Lexi so we’ve all spent at least a year trying to get help and really only putting out fires or what we call symptom chasing. She is so complex that we’re left just trying to keep her alive.
She doesn’t even qualify for health insurance as she has been deemed critical. She’s dying, guys. Her medication costs at least 6000$ each month.
She’s so beautiful.
Childrens cancer is the most funded area. Millions upon millions are donated each year. Diseases like Lexi’s get nothing.These kids die. This is a kid that would do anything and everything to make someone smile or ease their pain for a minute.
Please help me to continue to do it for her?

He was in a bad headspace and pushed himself to do something he clearly wasn’t ready for. He realized he wasn’t ready for a relationship like that and so he left. He needed time to get his head on straight and sort through his issues. This is something incredibly common with abuse survivors.
And for the 500th time, he only has sex with Isabela if Hawke doesn’t express any further interest in him. IOW, if s/he moved on. Years after the fact. And by that time, he’s ready to go there again with someone.

Part of the abuse Fenris suffered when he was a slave was sexual in nature. Not only does the game itself drop massive anvils about it, David Gaider himself confirmed it. When Fenris said that he was having bad memories come back after having sex with Hawke, that’s exactly what the fuck he was referring to. When a person’s physical boundaries are violated like that, being intimate with someone can trigger bad feelings and remind them of when they were assaulted, even if it’s with someone they care about. This is basic 101 shit.

We see ourselves in fictional characters. We’re meant to. And as flawed as Bioware is about A LOT of things, one thing their actually good at is realistic character behavior. This shit is just as bad as the people who call Isabela a skeeving whore because of her sexual activity. The isabela shit is slut-shaming, and the Fenris shit is victim-blaming. Two very real phenomena that people think are okay to do. When you do it to fictional characters, it’s symptomatic of what you think of similar real people. And if you say “oh, I’d NEVER say that about a real person!” Too fucking bad. If you say it about a fictional person, it shows that that’s how you really think, and that’s how you’ll speak when you think you can get away with it because it’s a fictional character.
Guess what? When people hear you speak about a fictional character that way, and they identify with that character’s experiences, they hear you speak about them that way. So check your damn privilege and sit the fuck down, and learn from your damn mistakes.
